The idea behind Father's Day is to recognize and appreciate the role that fathers play in the lives of their children.

So what is the significance of Father's Day & Why should I celebrate it? 

The significance of Father's Day lies in the opportunity it provides to express gratitude and love towards our fathers.
It is a day for you to show appreciation for their
  • hard work
  • sacrifice
  • guidance
to raise a kid like us (just kidding).


However, in this inflation era, it is tough to find places which are within our budget to celebrate our Father's sacrifices. 
In this article, we will be looking at less to zero budget activities to celebrate Father's day near Kuala Lumpur.

Kuala Lumpur offers a variety of fun & budget friendly activities for families to celebrate Father's Day together.

Outdoor Quality Time 

  1. Spa Day : Give Dad a Break

Dad works hard, and they deserve an escape from the hustle by getting a little pampering like a baby. Treat your dad to a relaxing spa day at one of KL's affordable spas.
Look for deals on massage packages and facials. A few hours of relaxation will leave him refreshed and grateful.

  1. Games at Cafes : Coffee in one hand and Game in another

Sneak in some quality family bonding time in the midst of battles over kingdoms, treasure or property, or through mind games trying to help (or sabotage) each other in a cafe.

  • WePlayGames Cafe Desa Sri Hartamas : a 5 star reviewed cafe which has a wide variety and unique board games at a reasonable price.
    It is a suitable place to travel via own transport or even public transport. I advise you to go here earlier so that you can spend more time playing more board games with your Dad. 


  • Boardgame Depot : a 4.2 star reviewed cafe which has simple games such as 'Monopoly', 'Saboteur' and even 'Games of Thrones' at an affordable rate.
    They also have a cute secondhand bookstore for our book lovers. I would advise you to travel via Public Transport to this place as the parking is limited. You know, it's Bangsar!



  1. Bookstore Date at BookXcess

For a book-loving dad like mine, a trip to BookXcess is a dream come true. Spend the day browsing through an extensive collection of discounted books.
You can even find a cozy corner in the store to read together. Plus, it's a great way to support local businesses.


     Where to go?
  • BookXcess - The Gardens Rooftop  - A bookstore with both Garden view and City view. There is a cafe to sit and spend more quality time with your father on Father's day.
    It is advised to go during evening to witness a beautiful sunset in the Garden. (Unwanted information : It is one of my favourite places to spend quality time with people). 


  • BookXcess Fahrenheit - If you are looking for a bookstore with spacious layout and plenty of seating, then this place is suitable for your father's day celebration.
    (Haven't been here, just saying). 


  1. Hiking : Explore Nature Together

If your dad is a fitness freak or loves the great outdoors, why not take him on a hiking adventure?
Kuala Lumpur is filled by lush greenery and scenic trails and the entrance is free in most of the places. Please eat a light meal before hiking, don't eat banana leaf meal and fight for life like me.

Nothing says "I care" like giving back to the community. Spend quality time with your dad by volunteering at a local nursery or old folks' home. It's a rewarding experience that is sure to create a lasting memory and impact for both of you.
